The Whistler WGPX-650 GPS offers advanced features, including a remote controlled receiver, that help you arrive quickly and safely at your destination. This portable unit with a powerful 266 MHz processor is ready to go when you are--no downloading or PC connection required. Exceptionally easy to use, the WGPX-650 gives you easy access to pre-loaded maps of the United States and millions of points of interest. The WGPX-635 features a large, anti-glare, 3.5-inch color TFT LCD touch screen with turn-by-turn directions, as well as audible and visual prompts to get you where you need to go easily and safely.

The Whistler mapping software (preloaded on a removable SD/MMC card) shows detailed maps of Canada and the United States, including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, so you can navigate cities and streets while finding your way to restaurants, hotels, post offices, and other key sites.

Mounting this system is snap-- just use the included windshield mount to keep your unit exactly where you need it. When it's time to move the WGPX-650, it dismounts quickly and easily, so you can plug it in at home or put it in your rental car. For added convenience, this system runs on an internal lithium-ion battery or external 12-volt battery, and has a flip-up antenna, external earphone jack, and is WAAS (Wide Area Augmented System) enabled for accuracy in coastal areas.

The WGPX-650 also comes equipped with several advanced features, including a Navteq mapping speed alert to alert you when you've exceeded the speed limit, programmable home button for quick and easy navigation to your residence, and an automatic route re-calculation function. Whistler unit is a must have unit!!!

I have had this unit for several months but did not really put it to maximum use until this past week. For a two thousand mile, eight city trip, it worked flawlessly. I did learn I need to put in my preferences. After that I was one happy traveler. Pulling into a north Chicago suburb late at night without a room reservation, I tried the points of interest feature for the first time. I selected a motel, it took me straight there without having drive forever looking or reading a map at night. This unit more than paid for itself on this one trip. Another feature I liked was pulling off the road and driving into a town I was not familiar with. After looking around for a while, I switched the unit back on, it replotted my route and got me out of town and on my way in no time. I am buying a unit for my wife and one for my daughter. These are no longer toys but a have to have for safety and convenience.

Summary: Constant lock ups
Comment: I bought this unit as a Christmas present and it has proved to be a four month headache. The unit constantly locks up while driving. I've returned this once and the new unit does it just as much. And it rides in a fairly new Cadillac so its not like there is much jarring. Now the mounting bracket is broke. Save your money, buy another product.

Comment: Perfect, the screen is wide enough for me to read ( I like to read and listen) not small like one of the Garmin GPS, I received it a few days ago, set up was easy as 1-2-3 no comp. downloads, it was ready to go. I hooked it up and arrived at my location perfectly. I did not use the remote because I was driving alone, but I am sure it is a useful addition. GO WHISTLER
