I tested this mic out after installing it in my car with a nuvi 765t. My nuvi is on the left side of the steering wheel on the windshield. I ran the wire along the windshield, tucked behind the plastic panels and the ceiling to the sun visor and clipped it on the visor.
I tried several calls with and without the mic attached. What I noticed about the mic is:
1. The background noise is virtually eliminated - this is HUGE as it makes my voice a LOT clearer
2. The voice is only slightly louder with the mic than without the mic but much clearer (see 1 above)
3. It picked up my voice pretty well whether I was facing forward (best), looking right, looking left, or looking backwards (to check my blind spot). The voice was clearest when looking straight ahead or looking left. A little attenuated looking right and a little more looking back. But in all cases it was very clear
4. I tried to speak louder and softer. To my surprise, even my softer voice came through very clearly with the mic as did my loud voice.
Well, its a $5 mic review what else can I say about it :)

I could not see the difference when using the microphone and when not.
I have tried multiple locations on my car and the results were always the same. Maybe a noise cancelling mic will make a difference (just wondering...)

Checked with the Nuvi site and thought it would be good with the 885nuvi. Was wrong.

Comment:
I bought this as a cheap mic so I could use the bluetooth phone that is part of the Zumo. It was listed as an accessory for the Zumo, which is marketed as a motorcycle GPS, but this is strictly for using in a car, way to sensitive for in helmet on a windy noisy motorcycle. I purchased a much more expensive J&M mike which picks up nothing that is farther away then about 1/8 inch. Garmin could have said in their write up for it not to be used with motorcycles. I have not tried it in the truck, might make the Zumo mic more sensitive for hands free use then the one built into the cradle that I have to yell at to get it to understand me when using the voice commands on my LG cell phone.

Others say that this microphone is identical to the Parrot 3200. I opted to go with Genuine Garmin.
I bought this microphone for use with my Garmin 775T. The built-in mike is barely audible (as well as the speaker). So I was hoping that a remote mike close to my mouth would make things better.
Unfortunately, the comments I get are that it seems like I'm speaking from across the room. When I speak directly into the microphone things improve slightly, but that makes the "hands-free" experience pretty sucky! Also, the background noise when driving is pretty bad.
The mike comes with a very generous length cord and various mounting options. Unfortunately, the swivel ball on the mike fits very loosely into the mount and easily gets knocked off. Expect to see it dangling from its cord most of the time.
I'm in the process of ordering a Clarion RCB199, since it's gotten great reviews and apparently does a decent job of canceling noise. I'll have to also buy a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter to kludge it to the Garmin's 2.5mm microphone jack, but I'm hoping the Clarion will be worth the higher $30 price.
Once I receive the Clarion RCB199, I'll post a review of it too.
