I just received a copy of this little book Friday for my birthday and Saturday night I was already applying and trying most of its contents. This is my first survival book but if any others are as good as this one I will probably be adding to my collection. I thought to myself, "I wish this author had also written a larger book." It turns out he has and I'm tracking it down. The pocket guide is small enough to take with you and I would encourage you to do so. The book stresses short-term stays in the woods, like 72 hours. I found this much more sensible than trying to start a fire by rubbing two sticks together. This book has convinced me to build a personal survival kit and know how to use it. I would recommend this book to anyone who ventures outdoors.

Comment:
This amazing little book is crammed with information that can and will save your life if you have to spend a couple nights stranded or lost. The book describes how to get food, what to eat, what not to eat, how to protect yourself, how to build shelter and discusses the different types of insects that you may come into contact with when out in the wilderness. Reading this book is not only fun but if it ever happened that you become lost, it would give you basic survival tips to ensure that you stay safer longer until help arrives. Highly recommended! I would especially recommend this to younger children to help teach them the basics of survival.
