Product Description Avid sport fishermen will treasure this book—which is nearly as beautiful as the objects it describes. Fly-tying is a highly prized fisherman’s craft, but it’s also an art form, wonderfully captured in this volume’s hundreds of color photos. Each of 100 fly patterns is presented in a two-page spread: an enlarged photo and textual description on the left-hand page, complemented with a set of step-by-step, clearly captioned photos on the facing page. In addition, fishing enthusiasts will find sections on fly-tying tools and materials plus general instructions for getting started. The author, a well-known fly-tier and sport fisherman gives instructions on making traditional trout and salmon flies—all of them fish catchers of proven effectiveness in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Australia. Examples vary in complexity, with patterns to fit every skill level from novice to expert fly-tier. Here are dry flies, nymphs and bugs, wet flies, streamers, and hairwings—a virtually complete selection of traditional and up-to-date examples of the art. The book’s hidden spiral binding keeps its pages opened flat, which makes it ideal for reference at the workbench. More than 600 color photos.

This was a gift, and I love it. My fly-tying friends thought it was great, too.

Lengthy Materials List

Comment:
I have both books by this author. They are very instructive and for the novice the first one is especially good as there are more individual steps illustrated. But each new fly described calls for nearly a completely different set of tying materials that the novice just won't have. One can spend literally hundreds of dollars just acquiring all of the different hackle types and colors, never mind the other materials.

Great Book!

Comment:
I ordered this book for my dad because he enjoys making flies and he is becoming more advanced. He likes having this book because it has very clear and detailed pictures of flies as well as a good description of how to make them. This book helped him become more advanced in fly-tying and now he makes a good amount of flies every day. This is a great book to have!

Fantastic for Fly Fishermen
|
Comment:
This is a great book, especially if you want to learn flies that will catch the trout and salmon. It is really good for beginners to intermediate fly tiers. And the old-timers can learn new patterns. Probably won't need any other trout fly tying book for quite some time with this one.

I will be contacting you in the near future as I did not receive my book. It was apparently delivered to the wrong address or stolen from my box. As I understand it, reimbursement or replacement is your responsibility.
